A note to our readers

To our readers:  Many of you have noticed that some of our links are not working correctly.  The ones affected are those that link to our Woodworking Products Store.   The store is currently being upgraded for a fresh new look that we think you’ll like.  We ask for your patience and understanding while we rebuild the store.  If there are any products you would like to see us offer, leave a comment and we will add the product if at all possible.  The store will be back on line fully stocked  in a couple of days and the links will be restored in the articles on this site.

In the meantime, be on the lookout for part 3 of the arched top mirror project.  We hope you’ve been enjoying that as much as we enjoyed building it.

Thanks for your patience and understanding,

The Jersey Woodworker

Woodworking Tools – Dremel Multi-Max

If it were possible to send a thank you letter to a manufacturer I would be sending one to Dremel, for their new tool the Dremel Multi-Max. This 110 VAC power tool is the answer to a long list of tasks that the DIY’ers, hobbyists and professionals have been asking for, but at a price that doesn’t require a small loan.dremel multi max 150x150 Woodworking Tools Dremel Multi Max

The Dremel Multi-Max is similar to the Fein Multi Master, in that it can be used in several applications by simply changing the tool head. Heads are available for under cutting doors and trim for floor installations, or the removal of paint, caulk, adhesives or vinyl. There is another head which allows the user to grind thin set or mortar for repairing a tile installation, plus another that turns the Multi Max into a sander. The big difference is the price, the Dremel Multi Max is offered for less than $100.00, as compared to the more costly Fein tool that retails for over $300.00

So what do you get for your $100, well you get the Multi Max, carrying case, sanding pad, sand paper in 60, 120 and 240 grit, scraper blade and wood cutting blade. The Multi Max also carries a two year warranty. Not a bad deal at all. Heads that are not part of the kit are also available for a very reasonable price.

While doing research on the Multi Max I came across this video from Dremel that may answer other questions that you may have. Dremel Multi Max Video

If you wondering if I’m going to add the Dremel Multi Max to my tool kit, the answer to that is the order has already been sent. I have an upcoming tile job in the upstairs bathroom that this tool will be a very welcome helper for. Thanks again Dremel.
