Ezee-Feed Ultra Wide Outfeed Table

A friend of ours, Lee Jesberger, called today and said   “Hey, I have a new product to add to the Ezee Feed product line, how about taking a look at it and let me know what you think.”   Well, normally I try to avoid situations like this.  You don’t want to offend the other person, so you give them a politically correct reply.  But since Lee is a friend and a fellowUltra wide 2 300x225 Ezee Feed Ultra Wide Outfeed Table woodworker, I figured I had nothing to lose, so I took a look. This time I don’t have to come up with any PC  replies.  Lee’s Ultra Wide” outfeed table is a fantastic addition to his great line of table saw accessories.

This table saw add-on is the answer for all of us who have ever tried to rip a full length sheet of plywood.  Every thing is going great, until the last of the wood passes the end of the blade, then all Hell breaks loose.  You are forced to try to hold both pieces of plywood, your cut off and the remainder of the sheet from either dropping on to the floor or worse.  Like having one of the pieces getting caught in the spinning blade, and having it come flying back at you.

Since Lee is also a woodworker, he understands that, unlike some TV woodworkers, space is an issue in your shop.  I know it is in mine.   Lee kept that fact in mind when he designed all of the Ezee-Feed products, including the Ultra Wide outfeed table. Most outfeed tables I have seen are big and bulky, and once they are in place you really don’t ever want to remove them.  The Ezee-Feed Ultra Wide outfeed unit can be installed or removed with ease and within a few seconds.  And when you don’t need it, it folds and stores flat against the wall.

The other thing that I was impressed with is that the Ultra Wide uses transfer balls instead of rollers.  Rollers are really great if you want to move anything in only one direction, but what if you want to shift the piece of plywood sideways.  Then the rollers act more as a hindrance than to help you.  Transfer balls allow you to move the stock in any direction.  Just like that guy who advertizes one of the household vacuum cleaners says, a fixed wheel tends to only move in one direction, but a ball can move in any direction.  No, I am not comparing the Ezee-Feed to a vacuum, but the concept of  the transfer ball and the vacuum mounted on a ball are the same.

So my answer to Lee’s question, is I think it’s a great addition to the Ezee-Feed family.  Like his other products, the Ultra Wide Outfeed Unit is available in both the Professional and Lite version.  Which one should you order? Well that really has to be your decision.  I just know that if you want to add a quality Outfeed table to your table saw then your search is over.
